Kopitiam woes
We went to the Kopitiam in the Jurong Entertainment Centre (near the Jurong East interchange) for dinner, hoping to discover some good food there. Much to our dismay, the standard of the food that we ordered weren't really what we expected. Foodie ordered 水饺拉面(dumpling la mian) from this hand-made noodles stall (长青). Anything that could go wrong in a bowl of noodles, went wrong. The soup was bland, the dumplings had thick skin and were not delicious at all, the noodles tasted starchy and the egg in the soup was terribly broken. Not only the ingredients went wrong, the cooking went wrong too. It was obvious that the noodles was cooked too long and the cook stirred it too much when she was cooking. Foodie had really felt like discarding the whole bowl after a mouthful of noodles and a bite into the dumplings..
Loonie ordered some dim sum from the 'snack' stall. This stall has got no name. There was only this huge sign on top of the stall saying 'Snack'. The chee cheong fun was average but the steamed dumplings were terrible. One of the worst dim sum Foodie had ever eaten. Usually dim sum have got this 'sweet', fresh and 'juicy' taste after one bites into it. The juices from the meat or prawn used will start to ooze out slightly and the fragance of the meat will waft into your nose. It did not happen for the steamed dumplings that we ate. It was really quite a disappointing dinner, but the wonderful company of each other more than make up for the disappointment. :)
